Hamilton Princess & Beach Club has announced that it will complete its $100 million renovation project this June. Over the course of the two-year process, the 400-room property has added 43 new suites designed by Botelho Wood Architects, three new restaurants, an exhale flagship spa, gym and boutique fitness studio, a private beach club, and a 60-berth marina.
Three new culinary venues include Bermuda’s first and only celebrity-helmed restaurant, Marcus’. The 3,000-square-foot venue is led by internationally-acclaimed Chef Marcus Samuelsson, the force behind the James Beard Award-winning restaurant Red Rooster Harlem in New York City. The focal point of the open-air restaurant, created by New York interior design firm Parts and Labor, is a colorful subway-tiled 30-seat bar lined with teal high-backed stools, surrounded by mid-century wood tables, leather banquettes and a private dining alcove decorated with Warhol portraits of Mick Jagger. A menu created by Samuelsson celebrates the island’s vibrant flavors, freshly-caught fish, and locally-sourced seasonal ingredients, with signature dishes such as Cheddar Baked Bermuda Onion, Fish Chowder Croquettes, and Trout Roe Tacos.
The new 1609 Bar & Restaurant, a harbor-side cocktail bar and grill situated on the hotel’s new marina, is a 2,500 square foot open-air space with waterfront views from every vantage point. It has a marine-inspired interior with clean, simple lines and a natural sandy palette of teak and Spanish cedar. Named after the year the survivors of the Sea Venture shipwreck arrived in Bermuda as the island’s first settlers, the open-air dining structure offers a laid-back social atmosphere and a menu that includes charcuterie and flatbread pizza, as well as classic Bermudian cocktails such as the Rum Swizzle and Dark & Stormy.
Crown & Anchor is an informal dining option with historic maritime paintings and hardwood tables. It serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea.
The new marina, which is the only full-service marina in Bermuda, houses up to 60 berths, ranging in size to accommodate vessels, pleasure craft, tournament fishing boats, as well as super yachts. A watersports facility outfits guests to tour the island on jet ski tours, pontoon rentals, Boston whaler boat rentals, kayaks, Hobie cats, paddle boards, private boat charters, and snorkeling tours.
The Hamilton Princess & Beach Club has teamed up with lifestyle and wellbeing brand exhale to create a new 5,400-square foot spa and fitness center overlooking Hamilton’s harbor. Opening in June, exhale Bermuda will include nine therapy rooms, four manicure stations and two pedicure thrones with an adjoining Zen lounge and wellbeing boutique. A Mind Body Gym and fitness studio will offer Barre, Yoga and Cardio classes. The spa experience extends outside into a new spa pool and poolside yoga pavilion, while an adjacent 2,150-square-foot fitness center spans two stories with state-of-the-art equipment by Technogym. Five cabanas will be featured at the beach club.
The newly renovated negative-edge infinity pool overlooks the harbor on the western shore of the resort. Sun loungers shaded by two towering palm trees are perched on island-like pavilions that float just above the pool’s water, with decks made of Syrian limestone and azure blue-glazed tiles. The Princess Beach Club, which opened during the summer of 2015, is a short ride from the hotel by private jitney where it is located on the South Shore along a sheltered turquoise swimming cove that meets a crescent-shaped stretch of soft white-sand shoreline.
For meetings and events, Hamilton Princess & Beach Club offers more than 22,000 square feet of newly restored indoor and outdoor event space. Custom-tailored programs meet the needs of busy groups and offer opportunities to positively impact the community such as Eco-Meet, an exclusive green conference planning option that lessens the environmental impact of a meeting through reduced resource consumption.
