Florida All-Inclusive Resort to Reopen After Fire

The adults-only, all-inclusive Bungalows Key Largo resort in the Florida Keys has set an official reopening date: December 19, 2019. The property is now accepting reservations for late December and beyond.

As previously reported in the Miami Herald, a fire this past May destroyed the resort’s main building, which houses its restaurant, bar, spa and lobby. No one was injured in the fire, but there was heavy fire damage to the upstairs and a significant amount of water damage downstairs, forcing the resort to close for repairs.

According to the latest statement from the property, the reopening will “completely replicate” the original resort amenities, as well as restore the two-story Beach House under thatch roofing. The refreshed building will be home to the Living Room common area, two restaurants – Fish Tales and Bogie & Bacall’s – the Hemingway bar, the main pool area and the Zen Garden spa, which has a Himalayan salt room and a eucalyptus steam room among its wellness offerings.

The boutique, waterfront resort, which is on the northernmost island of the Florida Keys, 63 miles south of Miami, has accommodations in 135 private bungalows spanning its 12-acre grounds, each with its own terrace with bougainvillea, an alfresco soaking tub and a garden shower. Other amenities include the beachside Sea Señor Mexican restaurant, the Larry Largo’s food truck, two on-site bars and two six-seat floating tiki boats, named the S.S. Rum Runner and the S.S. Margarita

Also on property are two pools and two jacuzzi tubs, 1,000 feat of shoreline with beach cabanas, two Huffy cruiser bicycles with each bungalow, a Fitness Tiki Hut with Peloton equipment, daily morning yoga and an array of aquatic activities such as snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding. The resort also has a full fleet of boats ranging from electric Duffy boats and catamarans to watersport and sailing boats to explore the surrounding waters.

All-inclusive rates include around-the-clock golf cart pickup and drop-off service, lodging, food and premium beverages, resort amenities, water toys, beach cruisers, activities such as morning yoga, cooking and mixology classes, sunset happy hours, fish fries, pig roasts, and more.
