Cancun's First Villa Group Property to Conclude Second Phase of Construction in August, Expects Full Completion by December

NEW YORK CITY, New YorkTravel Agent chatted on Wednesday morning with Christian Rodriguez, director of sales and marketing for Villa de Palmar Cancun Mujeres Beach Resort, the Cancun area's first ever Villa Group property.

The resort, which will have a total of 415 rooms when it is fully completed in December, opened its first 150 rooms in December of 2010 and expects to open an additional 136 rooms when the second phase of the overall project is completed in August. Also, the resort will open an eight-treatment room spa, including two couples rooms, in August. There are two pools and two restaurants already offered at the resort, which will be part of a three-resort Villa Group complex. Two more restaurants will open by August with the fifth and last restaurant expected to be open in December.

The other two Villa Group properties to built in the complex are expected to be completed around 2014-2015, Rodriguez says, noting that he hopes to see construction of the second property on the way by the end of this year.

The resort, which is technically located in Playa Mujeres, just outside of the Cancun, is yet another luxury all-inclusive to open in the Cancun area. It caters primarily to families since its one-, two- and three-bedroom suites are perfect for multigenerational travel, Rodriguez says,

“The beauty of the location is that we are so close to Cancun if families want to go and enjoy the nightlife there, but we are also just outside of it if families want to go somewhere a little more relaxing, a little more quiet,” Rodriguez says.

Since opening, the resort has seen an average month occupancy of roughly 80 percent. For your clients, there is a special introductory offer of 20-percent off rooms. Also, agents can stay at the resort for only $99 a night per person. Villa del Palmar offers agents a 15 percent commission when agents book directly with the hotel.
