During a signing ceremony for two new hotel agreements in India, Hubert Joly, president and CEO of Carlson announced the hospitality and travel company is on track to surpass more than 100 hotels in operation in India by 2011. Prior to opening 15 more hotels in 2011, the company will total eight this year, including three done and five in development. At the signing, Joly welcomed the 275-room Radisson Blu Hotel Mumbai Malad and the 110-room Park Plaza Coimbatore in west and south India.
Radisson Blu Hotel Mumbai Malad
In the Mumbai suburb of Andheri East, off the business district, Radisson Blue Hotel Mumbai Malad will 275 rooms, including contemporary rooms and an all-day dining restaurant, two specialty food outlets, a tea lounge and a 10,000-square-foot banquet and meeting facility. Owned by American Spring and Pressing Works Private Limited, construction is set at $52 million to begin immediately for a 2014 opening.
Park Plaza Coimbatore
Owned by Sabari Inn Private Limited, Park Plaza Coimbatore is set to open next year near the Coimbatore International Airport. Following its $15 million construction, its accommodations will include four suites, 14 deluxe and 92 executive rooms. Dining choices will include the property's restaurant, coffee shop, rooftop restaurant and bar. For groups, two banquet halls will be able to accommodate up to 500 guests each, and two board rooms will offer seating for up to 40 people.
Among the eight in operation by the end of the year, the five to be completed include the 178-room Radisson Hotel New Delhi Paschim Vihar, the 120-room Radisson Hotel Rudrapur, the 73-room Country Inn & Suites Gurgaon Sector 12, the 94-room Park Plaza Ahmedabad and the 80-room Park Plaza Faridabad. The three that have been completed include include Radisson Marina Hotel Connaught Place, Radisson Hotel Indore and Radisson Resort Temple Bay Mamallapuram.
Radisson Marina Hotel Connaught Place
Located in New Delhi's Central Business District area, the boutique hotel also has easy access to the Airport Express Line Metro Station and the New Delhi Railway Station. Featuring 93 rooms, the hotel also features a wide selection of food and beverage outlets and wellness facilities.
Radisson Hotel Indore
Twenty minutes from Devi Ahilyabai airport, the 201-room hotel is also in close range of the Holkar Palace and the Lal Bang Palace. Besides its accommodations of 18 suites and 183 rooms, this property will feature among other things, dining in The Creative Kitchen, The Great Kebab Factory and The Cakewalk pastry shop.
Radisson Resort Temple Bay Mamallapuram
Situated on 44 acres, the 144-room hotel counts its 27,000-square-foot pool among its highlights. Other features include the pitch and putt golf course, as well as four dining selections.
Five hotels in the works worth mentioning include Radisson Hotel Agra, Radisson Hotel Amritsar, Radisson Hotel Greater Noida, Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Mumbai Powai and Country Inns and Suites by Carlson Gurgaon National Highway 8.
Radisson Hotel Agra
In Uttar Pradesh, near the Taj Mahal, this 140-room hotel features an all-day dining and speciality restaurant, bar and tea lounge. Business travelers can take advantage of the banquet and meeting facilities totaling 10,000 square feet, while all guests will definitely enjoy the spa.
