Club Med Sandpiper Bay Welcomes Fitness Champion

The final countdown is on for Club Med Sandpiper Bay, which is set to reopen its doors December 17 after undergoing a $25 million transformation.

The latest news streaming out of the property is the addition of Heather Gollnick, professional triathlete and five-time Ironman Champion, to Club Med Academies' coaching staff.

The new Club Med Fitness Academy at Sandpiper Bay will run under Gollnick's direction, offering programs that include the assessment of aerobic and muscular fitness, flexibility, body composition, nutrition and diet.

The Academy will be outfitted with a five lane lap pool, open water swim course, golf course, running trails and a full complement of multi-sport events to include six spring distance triathlon, two Olympic distance triathlons and five 5k and 10 running races.
