El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa Undergoes Redesign, Enhancements

Spread over 500 acres in Las Croabas, Puerto Rico, the 750-room El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa is undergoing a propert-wide, $112 million-and-growing enhancement that includes the unveiling of the Coqui Water Park next year, a complete redesign and refurbishment of all guest rooms, the addition of an outpost of the NYC steakhouse Strip House and the addition of a 22,650-square-foot ballroom.

Robert Barry, David Rockwell and Leo A. Daly collaborated on the design of the enhancements. The water park will feature an 8,500-square-foot main infinity-edge pool, multiple kids’ pools, four water slides, and 8,000-square-foot lazy river ride, a 25,500-square-foot sunbathing deck and a special event area for private functions. The resort recently christened two luxury high-speed catamarans, which hold 150 passengers, to cut the transport time to the private island Palomino down to seven minutes. An update to the 26,000-square-foot Golden Door Spa’s locker room, waiting lounge and soft goods is almost complete.
