The German Convention Bureau has changed its membership policy to include chain hotels, stating that the addition of such properties offers a wider portfolio. The chain hotels can join on a sliding scale, meaning larger hotel groups have a greater incentive to join without the GCB lowering its standards. Maritim is the first hotel group to join the organization.
