IHG and Wyndham Open a Pair of Firsts in South America

InterContinental Hotels Group and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts each has opened properties in destinations where they previously had not been represented. Wyndham has converted the 301-room Veneto Hotel & Casino in Panama City, into The Veneto, A Wyndham Grand Hotel, while IHG announced that the Holiday Inn San Pedro Sula has become the 122-room Crowne Plaza San Pedro Sula, the first Crowne Plaza property in Honduras.

"We are delighted to be bringing the Crowne Plaza brand into Honduras since it is a major part of the brand's growth strategy for this region," said Alvaro Diago, area president of IHG Latin America. Likewise, Peter Strebel, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts' president, said the introduction of the Wyndham brand in Panama is part of the brand's plan to pursue flagship Wyndham hotel in key international and gateway cities.
