After eighty-five years in business, The Leading Hotels of the World is celebrating its anniversary with a newly redesigned website, LHW.com.
Rebuilt from the ground up, the site operates on a state-of-the-art hardware platform and employs the latest techniques in web programming trends. The redesign is the result of an intensive global research and development project that relied heavily on user evaluation and input, including call center interviews, a survey on the existing LHW.com and usability testing of one of the early prototypes.
The updated site sports a new look that was made with the iPad and other tablets in mind, and inspired by print techniques. The site also features easier navigation, and enhanced functionality that simplifies the process of searching and booking. Lastly, the site now has a focus on providing richer, more in-depth content that appeals to, and reaches a broader audience. Adapting best practices from on-line retail sites, the new LHW.com incorporates a shopping cart feature, rather than the standard reservation function, to enable users to make multiple purchases. LHW.com is just the beginning of The Leading Hotels of the World’s new digital strategy. Among other features, there are plans to develop a smart phone/mobile extension of the site later this year.
