Luxury Hotel to Be Built on Wyndham Site in Bermuda

Bermuda Premier Ewart F. Brown has joined with Scout Real Estate Capital to develop Bermuda's first new luxury hotel in decades. Brown participated in a ceremony initiating the demolition of the Wyndham Beach Resort in Southampton, where a new five-star hotel is planned for the 32-acre oceanfront site. The property is expected to open in 2010. The new Southampton Beach Resort will be the first hotel of its size and kind built in Bermuda in decades, featuring 150 rooms, a luxury spa and fitness center and several pools and restaurants. The property also will include a wide variety of retail venues. Demolition is expected to take nine to 12 months, with construction starting immediately afterward. (JP)
