Marriott International has announced an expansion of their mobile check-in and check-out features. Eleven additional Marriott brands - The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels, Autograph Collection, AC Hotels, Courtyard, SpringHill Suites, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites and Marriott Executive Apartments*- will join the existing 500 properties already using the mobile service. This will see the amenity available at 1,200 properties worldwide and at more than 4000 properties by the end of the year.
The check-in service works by having Marriott Rewards members receive a push notification on their Apple iPhones or Android devices after 4 p.m. on the day before their arrival alerting them they can check-in. They will then receive a notification when their guestroom is ready. Since payment information is stored on the members profile, visitors will just have to walk up to the mobile check in desk, where there key card will be waiting for them.
Guests will then receive a notification alerting them, when mobile checkout is available. They will then be prompted to provide an email address where their bill should be sent, completely bypassing the front desk process. Available languages for the service include English, Spanish, German, French and Mandarin.
The company continues to make upgrades with its mobile service, offering mobile service requests in fifteen markets in North America. For example, guests at these properties can use a drop down menu of the most typical service requests, such as extra towels and pillows, or chat directly with hotel staff using a mobile app. The company will offer these and other mobile services to its Marriott Rewards members at the Marriott Hotels brand beginning early next year.
In addition, the company’s Marriott rewards has become the first major hotel loyalty program to offer geo-targeted, mobile offers using beacon technology. Participating properties send opted-in members notifications as they pass by ‘hot spots' or ‘local perks’ within their hotel, with offers tailored to each specific property including food, beverage and golf deals. The brand intends to increase these perks to include offers available locally in the neighborhoods surrounding participating hotels.
*Mobile check-in and checkout is available at all Marriott Hotels, JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels, Marriott Executive Apartments and at a select but increasing number of Ritz-Carlton, Autograph Collection, Courtyard, SpringHill Suites, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Residence Inn and TownePlace Suites properties.
