Marriott International Expanding in Middle East and Africa

Marriott International is expanding its brand further into the Middle East and Africa. On November 11 the company announced the signing of five hotels, including debut properities in Algeria, Ghana and Morocco. The hotels are expected to be completed by the end of 2015.

Marriott is opening two hotels in Algeria, the first being the 227-room Algiers Marriott and the 180-room Algiers Marriott Executive Apartments. Both are scheduled to be up and running by 2010.

The 294-room Sahl Hasheesh Marriott Beach Resort, the sixth Marriott on the Red Sea and eighth in Egypt, will consist of 294 rooms. It will be converted from the existing Old Palace Resort, currently owned by Red Sea Hotels Co.

Marriott's first Sub-Saharan venture, the 209-room Accra Marriott will open in Ghana in late 2010.

And finally the 216-room Marrakech Marriott Palm Golf Hotel, Marriott's first venture in Morocco, will open in 2012. It will include an 18-hole golf course and 250 luxury residences.
