Meliá Hotels International Plans Openings of 18 Hotels

Meliá Hotels International has revealed the openings of 18 hotels in 2017, including the company’s first sustainable hotel, Meliá Serengeti Lodge

South America

Gran Meliá Nacional Rio, Brazil (December 2016): Gran Meliá’s first luxury hotel in Brazil, located in the exclusive area of Sao Conrado. The hotel, which was original built in 1972, will be classified by the Brazilian government as a building of historical importance. The 413-room hotel will have two restaurants, three bars, a rooftop helipad, and 129,000 square feet of conference and events space.

 Paradisus Los Cabos, Mexico (Q1 2017): Meliá Cabo Real will be transformed into Paradisus Los Cabos, set on over 14 acres and surrounded by a private golf course. The ninth Paradisus hotel will have 350 rooms and suites, four swimming pools, six restaurants, three bars, and a 1,100-person ballroom. The hotel also offers an adults-only Royal Service and Family Consierge.

Meliá Cartagena de Indias, Colombia (Spring 2017): Located in Cartegenia (a UNESCO World Heritage site), on the Caribbean coast. Meliá Cartagena de Indias is an adults-only resort, and comprises 154 rooms and suites, a destination à la carte restaurant, buffet dining, bar, YHI spa, Beach Club, and meetings and events facilities. It will also be situated close to the Jack Nicklaus-designed 18-hole Karibana golf course.

Middle East

INNSIDE Doha, Qatar (Q3 2017): INNSIDE Doha will be located next to the new Qatar National Museum and Doha Metro station. The hotel will have 192 rooms, a signature restaurant, business centre, fitness suite with a spa, a rooftop terrace with a pool deck area, and a club food and beverage concept on the 13th floor. 

Gran Meliá Huravee, Maldives (Q4 2017): Composed of 95 private villas and 100 rooms, the Gran Meliá Huravee will be located on the island of Kalhudiyafushi and surrounded by virgin coral reef in an atoll known for its sea fishing. Guests can even book private events and dinners on a nearby island.

ME Dubai, Dubai (Early 2018): Situated in the Opus building in the Burj Khalifa District, the hotel will have 100 guest rooms and suites, exclusive international F&B outlets, serviced apartments, a rooftop bar, and wellness center. 

Africa

Meliá Serengeti Lodge, Tanzania (Q3 2017): Meliá Serengeti Lodge will be Meliá Hotels International first state-of-the-art sustainable hotel. The eco-hotel will be located on the slopes of Nyamuma in the Serengeti National Park. Meliá Serengeti Lodge will offer a perfect viewpoint for the annual migration of blue wildebeest, lions, leopards, and zebras. It will be the first hotel designed to operate without the use of power or water from third-party companies.  

Asia

Sol Beach House Phu Quoc, Vietnam (December 2016): The first Sol Hotels & Resorts property in Vietnam. Each of the hotel’s 284 rooms will have private balconies with panoramic views of the ocean. Tai-chi, meditation, local cuisine workshops, diving, and a beach jogging club are available through the hotel.

Meliá Shanghai Hongqiao, China (Q1 2017): This hotel will be part of a larger urban complex that will include entertainment, dining, green areas, and high-end residential villas. The 190-room hotel will be in Hongqiao, an area expected to become the new centre of west Shanghai and a business hub for the Yangze River Delta region. 

Europe

INNSIDE Glasgow, United Kingdom (Q4 2017): Located in the old British Telecom headquarters, the building will be transformed into a four-star hotel with 175 rooms, restaurant and bar, meeting rooms, and wellness center.
