Montage Hotels & Resorts Acquires Hanalei Plantation

Ohana Hanalei, LLC, an affiliate of Montage Hotels & Resorts, has bought 122 acres of land on Kauai, Hawaii, adjacent to Hanalei Bay and the Princeville Hotel and fronting the Hanalei River. The sale also includes the former site of the Hanalei Plantation Hotel and the historic Kamoomaikai fish pond, with long-term plans for restoration under consideration.

"Montage has no immediate plans or a timetable for development," says Alan Fuerstman, founder and CEO of Montage Hotels & Resorts. "We eventually intend to build a wonderful and appropriate Montage resort at Hanalei, one that the entire community will be welcomed to enjoy and be proud of. We share the vision of the people of the island in protecting Kauai's unique beauty."

Montage is a luxury hotel and resort management company. The company is building a flagship property, Montage Deer Valley, in Park City, Utah, and has Montage Los Cabos under development in Mexico. Montage Royal Island, Bahamas, is scheduled to open in 2010. (MR)
