More News on Corinthia London Hotel, Upcoming Libya Property

Travel Agent magazine recently had the opportunity to catch up with Glenn Carroll, senior vice president of sales and marketing for CHI Hotels and Resorts, which operates both the Corinthia and Ramada Plaza line of hotels. Carroll brought us up to date with some recent changes at the chain’s hotels.

Perhaps the most exciting news from the meeting was updated information about the upcoming Corinthia Hotel in London, on the site of the former Metropole Hotel close to the houses of Parliament, Downing Street and the Eye. Following an impressive renovation, the 296-room hotel hearkens back to its Victorian roots. When the Metropole opened in 1886, hotel rooms were expected to be spacious. (Tiny rooms only became the rule later.) As such, the smallest room at the hotel will be approximately 330 square feet. The suites on the top floor of the hotel will overlook the Thames, all of the bathrooms have separate baths and showers, and the 23-treatment-room ESPA will reportedly be the largest spa in London.

According to Carroll, when the hotel opens later this year, it will be positioned at the same level as the Savoy, the Four Seasons and the Barclay.

Due to open next year, the five-star Corinthia Hotel Benghazi will be the first five-star hotel in Libya’s second-most important city. Other projects in the works include a loyalty plan for regular clients, which will come in handy as the brands continue to expand.
