Neighborhood-Themed Hotel Opens In New York City

The Distrikt Hotel, a boutique hotel with neighborhood-themed floors from the Financial District to Harlem, opened in Manhattan today. Whether checking into the Soho on floor 12 or Chelsea on floor 20, guests will be assured of the same service and distinctive New York style. The skyscraper hotel is also home to the Collage restaurant.

OTTE Architecture, the New York-based firm that designed the hotel, tapped artist Chris Rubino to put local style on display with back-lit collages of iconic neighborhood scenes on each floor. The collages were composed from over 10,000 photographs distilling the essence and style of Chelsea, The Village, Midtown West, Midtown East, Central Park, Soho, the Lower East Side, Tribeca, Harlem and the Financial District. The New York-centric theme continues in the lobby, including an 11-foot green "living wall" representing Central Park, a front desk installation inspired by Manhattan's grid and a subway map-themed elevator bank.

Located at 342 West 40th Street, the Distrikt Hotel offers 155 guestrooms with amenities including free wireless Internet, flat-screen TVs, iHome docking stations, Frette linens, and ECRU New York bath amenities. Upper floors feature unobstructed views of the city. The hotel is steps from Times Square and the Fashion District.

Distrikt Hotel is a member of the elite Ascend Collection, an upscale network of historic, boutique and unique hotels across the U.S. and Caribbean providing guests with access to Choice Privileges, the award-winning rewards program.
