The Grand Velas Riviera Maya resort in Quintana Roo, Mexico, has unveiled a new Family Wellness Getaway. The program aims to promote health, wellness and familial togetherness through physical, culinary and restorative elements. The Getaway includes a private yoga class and meditation session on the beach, spa treatments for both parents and kids, a healthy cooking class and in-suite digital detox amenities.
Families on the Family Wellness Getaway will have all of their digital items collected by the Digital Detox Concierge, including cell phones, iPads and laptops. They will be replaced with board games like Jenga, chess and cards to promote healthy and fun interaction among family members.
30-minute restorative spa treatments are included for all members of the family in the resort’s spa cabanas, which overlook the resort’s oceanfront, three-tiered pool. The menu of therapeutic treatments include a foot or back massage, eye treatment, after sun facials, an Aloe Vera back massage, hair hydrating treatment, grape exfoliation and a deep tissue massage.
The resort also extends to guests its personal trainers at its Life Fitness Center, which contains state-of-the-art cardio stations with climbers, cross trainers, treadmills, bikes and weight training stations. More adventurous and athletic guests can engage in on-site sports like kayaking, pedal boating, snorkeling, beach volleyball, water polo, flag football and bicycle touring. Following a day of activity, guests are invited to the hydrotherapy facility at the Se Spa.
Throughout the resort’s eight dining options, a number of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options are available. Families on the Wellness Getaway are encouraged to book in one of the Two Bedroom Family Suites, which are all over 2,000 square feet, with one King bed suite and a suite with two Queen beds. The rooms are connected and have a private terrace with jungle views, 24-hour suite service and amenities.
Rates begin at $516 per adult per night based on double occupancy. Children up to age 12 are another $36.50 per night. For more information, visit rivieramaya.grandvelas.com.
