In case you missed the news, Hotel Contempo opened in Managua, Nicaragua, on May 15, becoming the country's first boutique hotel. Many of the hotel's 18 rooms and suites have Jacuzzi bathtubs and skylights that peek into the 1.2-acre property's canopy of mango, avocado and breadfruit trees.

Hotel Contempo has a pool, event and meeting space for up to 300 people, a business center, a lobby piano lounge and bar, a wine bar, and a restaurant serving market-driven Mediterranean cuisine with a Nicaraguan touch. Until July 30, Hotel Contempo will offer special opening rates ranging from $110 to $170 a night, including breakfast and Internet access. Shuttle service to and from the Augusto C. Sandino International, a 20-minute drive, is $5 per person.
