Now Open: Marriott’s New Renaissance Cancún Resort & Marina

Marriott International has opened its first Renaissance-branded hotel in Mexico: the Renaissance Cancún Resort & Marina. The 180-room hotel anchors the new marina in Puerto Cancún, a gated community at the beginning of the hotel zone, near the beach and 25 minutes from the airport.

Billed as a lifestyle resort, the property’s Mayan-influenced design was helmed by Estudio Lemus Arquitectos and Idea Asociados. Among the hotel’s 180 rooms are 11 suites, and all accommodations have ocean, marina or golf course views. Restaurant and bar spaces run the gamut from the lobby’s Zek Bar, which has its own DJ table, to Káajal Restaurant, serving local cuisine, and Nüup Deli Café, a coffee shop. Additionally, signature restaurant Merotoro serves a menu of Baja California cuisine by Chef Jaír Téllez.

Property guests can also take advantage of the hotel’s Navigators program. These Renaissance brand ambassadors can connect travelers with a number of local hotspots, including a private tour of the Underwater Museum that departs from the marina or bookings at nearby restaurants, Marriott said.

For meetings and events, there is a number of meeting rooms, an intimate boardroom, and a terrace overlooking the ocean.

Also in Puerto Cancún are a Tom Weiskopf-designed pro golf course and a shopping center with restaurants, movie theaters and the largest marina in the area.
