NYC Makes a Play for Sunday Stays

NYC & Company, the marketing and tourism organization for New York City, on Monday launched "NYC Sunday Stays," a hotel promotion that offers discounts and specials for guests spending a Sunday night at one of 24 hotels. The promotion is an effort to improve Sunday hotel occupancy rates, which NYC & Company says drops an average of 20 points from Saturday night. Participating hotels include the five W New York hotels and The Algonquin Hotel; more will be added. These hotels are reducing Sunday room rates by 20 to 30 percent and providing guests with other discounts such as discounted room service and restaurant dining, complimentary breakfast, free parking and room upgrades.

"This is a cost-effective initiative that will allow people to enjoy the city at a discount," George Fertitta, CEO of NYC & Company, said in a statement. "Whether a visitor is here for business or pleasure, NYC Sunday Stays encourages travelers to extend their trips through Sunday night or come a day early to spend Sunday night in the city at a considerable value."
