Palace Resorts to Expand Tourism Offerings in Dominican Republic

Palace Resorts will be expanding its tourism offering with a new investment set in the Macao zone in Punta Cana, aiming to expand Moon Palace Punta Cana by adding an additional 1,200 rooms. Gibran Chapur, EVP of Palace Resorts, made the announcement during a recent visit to the Dominican Republic.

Palace Resorts began construction of its new 2,150-room Moon Palace Punta Cana in November 2018. The resort has 20 restaurants, nine bars, seven swimming pools, a water park, Greg Norman Eco Signature Design Golf Course, 75-booth wellness spa, casino, 118,000-square-foot Convention Center and more.

Chapur, in light of this year’s consumer trade uproar over the destination, stated that the Dominican Republic is a safe tourist destination and that it will continue growing and developing; therefore, Palace Resorts will confidently continue investing in its tourist sector. Chapur added, according to the official press release, that he felt no concern whatsoever with regards to the recent safety issues that affected the country, seeing it more as a circumstantial situation, resulting from the high-volume tourist influx that the country has welcomed in recent years.

Just this week, Palace Resorts announced it will stop selling through Apple Leisure Group. Palace Resorts said that the move was to strengthen its strategic partnerships with other tour operators and will continue to work to solidify its existing business relationships with the travel agency community and tour operators.
