ACAPULCO, Mexico -- During our coverage of the 36th annual Tianguis Turistico tradeshow, Travel Agent sat down with representatives of Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board and learned that two highly-anticipated AMResorts properties slated to open in the destination in the summer of 2012 are ahead of schedule.
AMResort announced the groundbreaking for both properties less than a year ago and it appears as though both resorts may be ready by the end of the year, says Luis Villasenor, director of promotions for the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board. Although the properties are set to open in 2012, Villasenor says he won't be surprised if they open sooner.
AMResorts, provider of sales, marketing and brand management services for Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts, Secrets Resorts & Spas, Dreams Resorts & Spas and Now Resorts & Spas, celebrated the placing of the first cornerstone last July of a new 602-room resort complex in Puerto Vallarta.
The $150 million project introduces the first Secrets and Now Resorts & Spas properties to the popular destination. The development represents Puerto Vallarta's first new construction hotels in almost a decade. The adults-only Secrets Puerto Vallarta will feature 271 guest rooms while Now Amber Puerto Vallarta, a new luxury resort, will offer 331 guest accommodations.
