Riu Tequila Reopens After Months of Renovations

The Riu Tequila has finished months of renovations and reopened. The hotel refurbished its common areas, gardens and rooms and added two pools, a barbeque station and two new restaurants.

The hotel, located in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, renovated all 630 of its guestrooms. They have new, more modern décor, bathed in white with touches of red. All rooms have new ceramic parquet flooring, and the bathrooms now include shower stalls.

The Riu Tequila also completely redid its swimming area, adding two more pools. The hotel now has five pools, one with slides for children and another with a swim-up bar. Near the children’s pool is a RiuLand club and a playground, as well as a new gym and Riu Fit area.

Diners at the hotel now have two new options, in addition to the preexisting Rosa Roja, Bamboo and Beach Club. Rinascita offers Italian food and Black Cow is a steakhouse. The barbecue station serves grilled dishes at lunch. The improvements extend to the hotel’s swim-up bar and the three bars in the main building, La Veranda, La Fiesta and Sports Bar 24. All have been redone and remade.

RIU Hotels & Resorts is a family-owned chain of properties with a focus on holiday resorts. Its 92 hotels extend across 19 countries and provide accommodations for over 4 million guests a year.
