Sonesta Ocean Point Resort Slated to Open December 15

The adults-only Sonesta Ocean Point Resort is preparing to reopen December 15 after the process of rebuilding over the past 15 months followed by the all-inclusive, family-friendly Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino & Spa still under renovation and reopening February 1, 2019. The resorts are returning as St. Maarten is poised to welcome visitors as the island recovers following Hurricane Irma last year.

Sonesta Resorts St. Maarten is updating and extending its PRE-opening special to a RE-opening special offering up to 45 percent off rates for bookings now through January 31, 2019 for travel through December 20, 2019. Sonesta Ocean Point retail rates start at $229 per person, all-inclusive for a Junior Suite, and at Sonesta Maho Resort, rates start at $132 per person, all-inclusive in a Superior Room, both based on double occupancy. Use promo code: REOPENING when booking.

Sonesta Ocean Point Resort’s modern Caribbean design in the guestrooms and public spaces remains the same, while the lobby is being entirely redesigned with an updated contemporary style and is still in progress, now scheduled to be completed January 20, 2019. In the meantime, the resort is providing an alternative location within the property for guests to check-in. Two new dining venues will make their debut including Casa Blue Tapas Restaurant & Bar, featuring a Caribbean-fusion menu, sangrias and mojitos open for lunch and dinner on the rooftop terrace above Azul Restaurant, and the Candlelit Island Grill, an al fresco venue open for dinner only.

A complimentary catamaran excursion will be available twice a week through January 7, offering guests a scenic coastal cruise with a sail to the Creole Rock natural reserve and a stop-over at Long Bay to enjoy a swim in clear waters with snacks and refreshments prepared by the culinary team. The resort’s evenings transition to a BBQ full of Caribbean flavors, while a steel drum band plays under the stars on the Point Pool deck. Another signature offering includes Sunday brunch at Azul with bottomless mimosas, bloody marys and prosecco, with the entertainment team developing more things to come.

Efforts are being made to minimize the appearance and any disturbance to guests caused by the construction at Sonesta Maho Resort, which will be entirely closed off during the process with the exterior facade almost completed. Sonesta Resorts St. Maarten has taken measures to implement the latest architectural innovations and storm resistant materials in the renovation for the future security and well being of its properties, staff and guests.
