Tom Luersen Promoted to EVP Operations at Destination Hotels & Resorts

Destination Hotels & Resorts has promoted Tom Luersen to executive vice president of operations. In his new role, Luersen will lead the operations function for the company, working closely with all functional leaders across operations, sales and marketing, business development, performance optimization group, human resources, IT, finance and design.

Luersen first joined Destination Hotels in 1998 as a managing director for Sunriver Resort in Bend, Oregon, after which he helped to expand the company's presence in the Pacific Northwest. Luersen oversaw operations at key urban, resort and conference center properties in the western region, including Suncadia Resort, developed by Lowe Destination Development in 2005 and the renovation and complete repositioning of a chain hotel in downtown Seattle to a new independent brand, Motif Seattle in June 2014. Luersen will continue and expand oversight of key investor and capital partnerships with Destination hotel owners.

Luersen is an active member of the AH&LA Resort Committee, founder of the 501 (c)(3) Wonderland Express and a Board Member, and past two-term member and Chairman of the Oregon Tourism Commission and Travel Oregon. Luersen graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelors’ of Science degree in Hospitality.
