Hurricane Rina Weakens to Tropical Storm

Hurricane Rina has weakened into a Tropical Storm and is moving northward near the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported at 100 p.m. Thursday.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the east and north coasts of the Yucatan from Chetumal to Progreso. Rina is expected to continue north through the night and turn toward the east sometime Friday or Friday night. The NHC forecasts the center of the storm will move near or over the northeastern coast of the Yucatan today or Friday.
