In a happy sign for travelers headed to Venice or Florence, Travel Corporation companies Trafalgar, Insight Vacations and Contiki Holidays will absorb the cost of a new tax being charged in hotels the two cities.
This move will let the three companies maintain their price promise for all itineraries that include accommodation in either of these cities as part of the holiday.
The new tax, which has already been instated in Florence, and will commence in Venice from August 23, is charged at a rate of between €1 and €5 per person, per night with the cost dependent on the hotel star rating.
All travelers who are currently confirmed or are planning to book a holiday which includes a Florence or Venice hotel stay with Trafalgar, Insight Vacations or Contiki Holidays in 2011 will be exempt from paying this unexpected tax, thus honouring the original brochure prices.
"If we tell clients the price of a tour and they book and pay for that departure, we do our best to never change the rate, regardless of a new government fee or tax," said Marc Kazlauskas, President of Insight Vacations.
In January, the three companies absorbed a similar tax in Rome hotels.
