The Khiri Travel Group to Open in Myanmar

Despite its tumultuous and conflicted history, Myanmar (formerly Burma), is taking further steps to become a cultural travel hub in Southeast Asia.

The Khiri Travel Group, a Southeast Asia specialist with offices in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, has further expanded into Myanmar, headed by Edwin Briels as General Manager.

Khiri Travel Group CEO Willem Niemeijer has a positive outlook on the move. "It is important to have the right people in place,e so we can deliver the high quality travel experiences that our clients are used to in Myanmar, right from the start," he said in a statement.

Khiri Myanmar will open with a host of innovative travel offerings, such as Thibaw and Kyaukme in Northern Shan State, the Southern Shan State, Mrauk U and the Rakhine Mountains, as well as favorites like Bagan, Mandalay and Inle.

Khiri will be able to arrange itineraries that include a visit to Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon along with a traditional breakfast, strolling and shopping in the markets in the small alleys around the pagoda and Buddhist offerings by travelers in the pagoda itself.

Travelers looking to give back can partake in Khiri Travel's charitable sister, Khiri Reach, which supports several community initiatives. Khiri Reach will soon announce help for a community cause in Myanmar.
