Lilla Roberts Hotel Debuts in Helsinki

A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the Lilla Roberts opened last month in Helsinki’s design district. The building, which dates from the early 20th century, houses 130 contemporary-style rooms equipped with free Wi-Fi, luxurious linens and coffee machines. Top digs: The two-bedroom suite with views over Kasarmitori to the sea. Hotel facilities include a gym, Finnish sauna, two meeting rooms, a bistro restaurant with a fireplace and a chic bar for cocktails.

Sereno Group to Open Lake Como Property

The Sereno Group is preparing a spring 2016 debut for the boutique il Sereno in Lake Como, Italy. Set on a bluff on the eastern shore of the lake, next to the village of Torno, it promises to have the same elements of relaxed privacy and understated elegance as the group’s Le Serno on St. Baths.

Iceland to Get Its First Marriott in 2018

Marriott International, in conjunction with Ian Schrager and Carpenter & Company, will open its first hotel in Iceland in 2018: The Reykjavik Edition. The hotel will be set on the harbor waterfront in the capital’s downtown area, adjacent to the Harpa concert and conference hall.

Starwood Adds Four to Luxury Collection

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has expanded its Luxury Collection’s European portfolio by four properties, all of which opened this summer. They are: Augustine, in Prague’s Mala Strana district; Falisia Resort & Spa in the Portopiccolo Sistiana beachfront development on Italy’s Adriatic coast; Caresse, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa in Bodrum, Turkey; and Grand Hotel River Park in Bratislava, Slovakia.

‘Culture Capital’ in Denmark Lines Up Events

Having been named a “European Culture Capital” for 2017, Aarhus, Denmark’s second largest city, is preparing an array of 2017 events, including the “Long Ships” in June; Classic Race Aarhus, June 3-5; the Fire Festival Regatta, August 15-19; a food festival in early September; and the Aarhus Festival, September 1-10, among many other happenings.
