Carmelo, Uruguay is the perfect retreat from the bustling city of Buenos Aires. I recently spent some time there prior to attending the Virtuoso Symposium in Buenos Aires. I stayed at Four Seasons Resort Carmelo with my daughter Jelissa. It was like an extremely nice adult summer camp, with all sorts of activities at your fingertips. To get to the resort from Buenos Aires, you take an hour-long ferry ride, followed by a 45-minute taxi ride to get to Carmelo.

Our room was a villa, equipped with a large personal tub as well as an outdoor shower and an outdoor living room. The resort has two pools. The heated indoor pool is located in the spa area with a Jacuzzi next to it. The room is so relaxing with floor-to-ceiling windows covering the entire wall, and a perfect view of the pine forest outside.

The resort offers bikes that you can take at any time. My daughter and I took advantage of that for a few rides while we were there.

My daughter also talked me into going horseback riding with her. We had so much fun. I was nervous at first, but I was quickly able to relax and enjoy it. We started our ride by heading into a beautiful pine forest that had almost no foliage on the ground. We came out along a river that ended in a big open field. It was such a pretty ride. It was great being able to run and do whatever we wanted with the horses. I’m so glad we decided to take advantage of all of that the Four Seasons Carmelo has to offer, and really enjoy their range of activities.

Even though it was the off-season in Carmelo, I thought it was the perfect time to go. It was secluded, the temperature was perfect, and we were able to really relax and enjoy what the resort has to offer. There was absolutely no reason to leave the resort.
