London’s Stafford Signs with Kempinski Hotels

The Stafford, one of London's premier luxury hotels, has joined the Kempinski portfolio and herading the brand's re-entry into a key European capital,  has been renamed The Stafford London by Kempinski.

"The collaboration could not be more synergistic," said General Manager Stuart Procter. "Kempinski's commitment to allowing the individual personality of each member shine, along with their dedication to exemplary service, perfectly aligns with what we have always strived to provide for our guests."

With a worldwide collection of distinctive and historic properties, Kempinski Hotels was founded in 1897 and remains Europe's oldest luxury hotel group. While its roots are in Germany, its portfolio is now spread throughout Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia with properties in locations such as Abu Dhabi, Beijing, Berlin, Budapest, the Dead Sea, Istanbul, Bruges and St. Moritz.  Rich in tradition, it comprises a fine collection of sumptuous hotels and resorts, from the truly historic to the breathtakingly avant-garde.

The Stafford London by Kempinski is the brand's first hotel in the English capital since 2008. Located on St. James's Place between Green Park and St. James's Park, the hotel offers 105 rooms and suites set in three historic buildings surrounding a quiet courtyard. Offering a haven of calm, the property recalls its past incarnation as a stately residence, with buildings dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries.

In addition to The Stafford's central location, the hotel is also home to one of London's finest wine cellars, which dates back 380 years and consists of 18-20,000 bottles; this immense collection is managed one of the city's few master sommeliers, Gino Nardella.

Further augmenting the guest experience, all public areas, guest floor corridors, and 24 rooms in the Main House are slated to be renovated by the end 2011.  These changes will enhance the traditional comfort the hotel already provides, while offering additional modern amenities, the Stafford London reports.
