Marriott to Expand Moxy and Edition Boutique Hotel Brands in Europe

Marriott International will add an additional five Moxy Hotels across Europe in 2016. The new hotels will pop up in Munich, Eschborn, Berlin, Oslo and Aberdeen. There will also be a new opening in Tempe, AZ in March 2016. Later, New Orleans will welcome a Moxy Hotel in April.

The brand expects to offer a portfolio of 150 hotels across the world within the next 10 years. 

“This is an exciting and pivotal moment for the Moxy brand as we move into the second phase of development with five new hotel openings this year and nine more expected in 2017,” said Amy McPherson, president and managing director of Marriott International, Europe.

The following hotels are set to open by the end of 2016:

Moxy Munich Airport, Germany – 252 rooms - located five minutes from the main terminal – March 2016

Moxy Eschborn, Germany – 176 rooms - located 10 minutes from downtown Frankfurt and 15 minutes from Frankfurt Airport – July 2016

Moxy Berlin Ostbahnhof, Germany – 210 rooms - located in Berlin city center five minutes walk from Ostbahnhof train station – October 2016

Moxy Oslo Exporama, Norway – 276 rooms - located at the Exporama exhibition and conference center – November 2016

Moxy Aberdeen Airport, UK – 200 rooms - located seven minutes from the main terminal – December 2016

The Moxy brand was created with Millennial travelers in mind. Moxy creates a social place in the lobby with a high-energy lounge, 24/7 self-service garb and go section, several plug-ins for devices and free Wi-Fi.

Other Marriott fans will be happy to hear that Marriott with Ian Schrager and the owner and developer of KKH Property Investors plan to open a new hotel in Barcelona. The Barcelona Edition is set to open in 2017 and will offer 100 rooms in the Ciutat Vella district. It will also be within a 15-minute walk to the beach and top sites like the Picasso museum and the Santa Maria del Mar church.

The modern and contemporary luxury-lifestyle hotel will be created by Ian Schrager and designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán. The space will include three restaurants, a lobby space, club and rooftop bar area.
