Avianca, Taca Sign Agreement to Implement Codeshare Flight With Aeromexico

Avianca and Taca, companies controlled by AviancaTaca Holding SA, announced Tuesday the signing of a commercial agreement with Aeroméxico.

With this agreement, the companies start a new stage in their relationship, allowing them to offer passengers a greater choice of services, more flight frequencies and a greater number of travel options in the region.

The representatives of the airlines will now work on a shared timetable to establish the mechanisms for the development of a codeshare agreement that will be implemented in stages. Both companies will also explore options to further strengthen their alliance with cooperation between their frequent flyer programs.

The codeshare operation between Avianca and Aeroméxico is scheduled to begin during the first half of 2012, benefiting the Colombia-Mexico markets. The codeshare agreement between Taca and Aeroméxico will be rolled out during the second half of the year and will include routes in the Central/South America-Mexico markets.

The implementation of the agreement is subject to the approval of aviation authorities.
