The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas announces Morrissey with special guest Kristeen Young will perform at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Friday, November 25. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. and the show is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m.
Tickets to Morrissey will go on sale Friday, September 9 at 10 a.m. PST and are available online or at 702.698.7778 or toll-free 877.551.7778. General Admission tickets are $66 plus tax, and there is a six ticket limit. Morrissey is an all-ages show.
Morrissey is revered worldwide as one of the most important British lyricists and singers of the last few generations. He rose to prominence as the lyricist and vocalist of The Smiths, one of the most influential alternative bands of all time. The group split up in 1987 and Morrissey launched a successful solo career making the top ten of the UK Singles Chart on ten occasions. He is revered for his emotionally charged songs and lyrics, as well as his public image, all of which provide clues to his rueful, reticent and tormented personality. He often uses the songs, and the fuss they cause, to create a welcome distance between him and the rest of the world, where he can hide, even as he shows himself off. He often is not what he seems to be. He is more mundane and yet even more mysterious.
Kristeen Young’s new EP, V The Volcanic, marks a departure from her earlier releases. Having set out to restore the piano to its rightful place alongside the guitar as one of the most fearsome instruments in the rock music pantheon, and feeling that she'd finally met that goal with 2009's Music for Strippers…, Young was now interested in going back to her roots, drawing on the electro-funk grooves she loved in her Midwest childhood. Yet as the new material took shape, she began to lose interest in mining just one musical vein. V The Volcanic may not sound precisely the same as its predecessors, but it always sounds like Kristeen Young- with her thrilling four-octave vocal range and dramatic performance style, it couldn't be anyone else.
