New InterContinental Hotel, Green Capital Top Ljubljana Travel News in 2016

InterContinental Ljubljana

Ljubljana, Slovenia's capital, is growing in popularity with travelers. Today marks the beginning of a green year in Ljubljana after the city won the title of European Green Capital 2016. The European Commission gave the city the honor after it implemented the most changes in improving quality of life in the shortest time span.

Travelers headed to Ljubljana this year will be able to attend a range of events celebrating the award. On January 15, the photo exhibition Ljubljana For You will open at Krakovsji nasip. Another important date is March 10, or the official Opening Ceremony of the European Green Capital 2016. Keep an eye out for the dragon, Flora, throughout the year. She is the official mascot of the green movement.

For travelers planning to visit in 2017, the InterContinental Ljubljana will open that year thanks to a partnership between InterContinental Hotels Group and Delta Holding. The hotel is set to open in the center of the city just a short walk to Dunajska Cesta, the major shopping and business district and the main train station. The new hotel will also have views of the river Ljublijanica. Included in the hotel will be a presidential suite, two banquet halls for up to 500 guests each and six board rooms.

For leisure, guests can visit the swimming pool, spa and fitness area. There will be all-day dinning options with an outdoor terrace on the 21st floor.
