Cruise Planners, an American Express Travel Representative, has promoted Theresa Scalzitti to senior vice president of sales and marketing.

Since joining Cruise Planners in 2016, Scalzitti was named Travel Agency Innovator of the Year by CLIA for the company’s MarTech advancements, which aimed to benefit travel advisors’ marketing efforts to make their business a highly profitable one.

The self-proclaimed “cruising queen” joined Cruise Planners after 21 years with Royal Caribbean International, and moved up into the vice president of sales and marketing role three years ago on February 29. Scalzitti is known as an advocate for travel advisors and a voice from the cruise line who consistently crushes sales goals, Cruise Planners said.

Scalzitti manages the strategic direction of the sales, marketing and business development teams, which includes public relations, digital strategy, corporate communications, creative programs, groups, CP Vacations and American Express programs. In the past, she also oversaw training and events, Cruise Planners said.

In other news from Cruise Planners, earlier this year the company settled into its new home office in Florida. The new space fits the company’s entire home office team on one floor, with space to expand. It also incorporates a number of eco-friendly measures, including motion sensor lights and refillable water stations. Other perks include an onsite café and an extendable gathering area where the entire company can meet at once.
