Report: Australians Set to Outspend Rest of World on Travel in 2016

Blouin Art Info is reporting that the biggest spending market for travel in 2016 is set to be Australia, according to recent findings from TripBarometer’s global report for 2016. Australia takes over the top spot from Switzerland, which was number one last year.

Conducted by research firm Ipsos for TripAdvisor, the TripBarometer study analyzes more than 44,000 survey responses from both the hotel sector and travelers worldwide to provide an overview of the travel landscape and key trends for 2016.

According to the report, the world's top ten markets that intend to spend the most on travel in 2016 — based on the average vacation budget for each market are Australia (Average budget: $10,900); Switzerland (average budget: $10,100); United States (average budget: $8,400); United Kingdom (average budget: $8,300); New Zealand (average budget: $8,000); Canada (average budget: $6,500); Austria (average budget: $6,400); Germany (average budget: $6,300); France (average budget: $6,000) and Argentina (average budget: $5,900).
