The Disney Wonder picked up 12 suspected migrants from Cuba while en route from Miami to Grand Cayman, CNN reports. The suspected migrants were brought onboard the ship and are begin turned over to Grand Cayman authorities.
U.S. Coast Guard 7th District Spokesman Jon-Paul Rios told CNN that it is unclear whether or not the suspected migrants were headed to the United States.
There has been an uptick in U.S.-bound migrants from Cuba recently, CNN said, as warming relations between the two countries have prompted fears that immigration policies that welcome Cubans into the United States would soon be ending. Disney said it picked up the group at the request of the Coast Guard.
