"What's in a name?" For ships, a lot; it gives them distinction. Avalon Waterways has chosen the names Felicity and Luminary for its two new ships, which will debut in 2010. These two ships are on top of two other ships—Affinity and Creativity—which will join the fleet this year, pumping Avalon's ship total to 10.
"Fed, in part, by a big ship traveler base and the fact that cruisers are looking for new, in-depth experiences, river cruising is the fastest-growing travel style. Our new ship builds and increased itineraries represent more than $100 million in growth to meet increased demand," said Patrick Clark, managing director of Avalon Waterways.
The four new ships are sisters to Avalon Scenery and will boast floor-to-ceiling windows spanning two decks. Agents can now take a visual tour of Avalon's fleet online through a new section at www.avalonwaterways.com.
