A New Tradition in Jamaica?

OCHO RIOS, JamaicaTravel Agent was on hand last week for what could be an annual tradition in Jamaica. The destination’s first Jamaica Jerk Challenge kicked off at the JamaicaInn in Ocho Rios on Friday, attracting more than 100 people to witness top chefs from around the world cook Jamaica’s most popular dish.

“Jamaican cuisine is quite literally a melting pot of the world’s flavors and just one mouthful can reflect the island’s textured heritage,” says John Lynch, director of tourism for the Jamaica Tourist Board. “The initiative should help to showcase Jamaican cuisine to travelers who might not otherwise think to sample some of the more traditional dishes during a trip to Jamaica.”
