ASTA Spurs Valentine's Day Travel Demand

ASTA is reminding travelers that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and when the weather outside is frightful, nothing says "I love you" more than a winter getaway.

"Whether you choose a romantic ski weekend or something involving sunny beaches and tropical breezes, an ASTA travel agent can help you find a trip to fit any budget and any desire," ASTA said in its new consumer media promotion.

"Spending time with the person you love is a great gift, one that’s welcome on Valentine’s Day or any time of year,” said ASTA President and Chair Chris Russo. “ASTA travel agents have the inside scoop on just about any destination you can name. And, thanks to long-standing relationships with many hotels and cruise lines, they can often get their clients room upgrades or something else extra to make their vacation even more special.

"Working with a professional travel agent takes the guesswork out of gift-giving. You can leave all the work to a travel expert --all you need to do is pack. You don’t have to make any of the arrangements, but you’ll receive all the praise."

ASTA noted that the unique ‘Find a Travel Agent’ feature on, ASTA’s consumer website, allows consumers to search for a travel agent nearest them or one who specializes in a particular destination or type of travel. Consumers can even submit trip requests and have travel agents bid on their business.

Not sure where your loved one would like to go? Give a gift certificate, ASTA suggesed.

“Ask your ASTA agent about hotels, resorts, cruise lines or any number of places that offer gift certificates that can be redeemed at a later date,” the association said.
