Barcelo Hotels & Resorts officially ended its partnership with AboutAnywhere.com a few weeks ago. Now, we haven’t received an official reason for the failed partnership, but it comes less than a month after agents voiced their displeasure on AgentNation, the first online social community exclusively for all travel agents, about Barcelo’s agreement with the commission-free website. If the negative remarks by the agent community did in fact contribute to the break up – and the timing certainly supports that – then this a clear example of how important our community site is to the industry.
