Cruise Deals, Events to Celebrate Veteran’s Day

The travel industry is hosting special celebrations and offering deals to celebrate Veteran’s Day.

As part of Carnival Cruise Line’s military appreciation program, military families can win three- to eight-day cruises from any U.S. port to the Bahamas, Caribbean or Mexico in a monthly drawing. Additionally, a booking promotion running through November 14 provides a $50 onboard credit per cabin plus a two-category upgrade and reduced deposits from $99 per person, which can be combined with the line’s Early Saver rates. Guests who qualify for the promotion can also book up to two additional staterooms with the same bonuses and pricing.

Star Clippers is offering veterans, active military personnel and their families 15 percent savings on any upcoming Star Clippers sailing when booked by November 30. After the 15 percent special promotion deadline has passed, Star Clippers will offer 10 percent savings for all active military personnel and veterans year-round which can be combined with other deals and incentives. To receive the military discount, veterans must submit a copy of their military ID or DD214 form.

Dream Vacations is spotlighting the five military veterans who were recently named winners of its 6th annual Operation Vetrepreneur: Become Your Own General contest. Currently more than 30 percent of franchise owners within Dream Vacations are military veterans and over the past six years, the travel agency franchise has awarded 30 free franchises valued at $381,000 to deserving military veterans. This year’s winners are Navy Veteran Nicholas Johnson-Moyneur of St. Charles, Mo.; Air Force Veteran Michelle McGinnis of Oklahoma City; Air Force Veteran Cynthia Seymour of Syracuse, N.Y.; Fredrick Wilkins of Ridgeway, S.C.; and Navy Veteran Brian Williams of Austin, Texas.

Finally, Port Canaveral closed its administrative offices Friday, November 10, in honor of Veteran’s Day.
