CruisingFree Expands Opportunities to Home-Based Agents

For those looking for additional income while working in their own homes, Providence, RI-based— a unit of Cruise Brothers— is expanding its sales team to include additional home-based agents to specialize in all types of cruise travel. Particular emphasis will be on ultra-luxury cruises, river cruises and unique (soft adventure) cruise vacations, the company says. Travel professionals interested in this opportunity will be selling cruise travel on a full- or part-time basis.

Consumers and travel agents, with and without experience, who opt to affiliate with Cruise Brothers home-based travel agent site, CruisingFree, may take advantage of the agency’s experience in selling cruises, the support it provides, and the familiarization trips and top commissions available because of the volume it sells, the company says.

Steven Gelfuso, president of Cruise Brothers, says he holds weekly web sessions for the agents who actively sell through Cruise Brothers in order to be immediately accessible to these independent contractors—they have his cell phone number and email address. “Once a travel professional is involved with us, they can call me or have direct access to my Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Gloria Rocatelli,” he says.

Cruise Brothers' marketing campaign is visible in promotions on the Travel Channel and Food Network as well as in consumer shows such as a weekend event that attracted 7,000 attendees. The company offers commission and the fees are minimal as they get new agents started and set up with their own travel web site. This program does not charge an annual membership fee. says it is one of the largest family owned cruise agencies in the country. It has been in business since 1972, specializing in all aspects of cruising and land vacations.
