Genares Implements Travelport Technology

Travelport has announced that Genares Worldwide Reservation Services, a hotel reservations solutions provider, will be the first hotel reservations company to implement Travelport XML Pro Technology Solution to access Travelport’s GDS systems.

Travelport XML Pro Technology interface links real-time rates and availability from the Genares reservations system into Travelport’s three core GDS platforms, thereby eliminating the need for the hotel group to route via a switch company. According to Travelport, the new technology will be more cost-effective and efficient for Genares, helping it to connect to more than 50,000 travel agencies worldwide.

Travelport customers now have access to real time rates, availability and rules for Genares’ 3,000 hotel properties. Among the brands under the Genares central reservation system are: Jin Jiang in China; and in the U.S., Lexington Collection; America’s Best Value Inns; Boutique Desires; Oxford Inns; Wynn Las Vegas; Encore Las Vegas; Treasure Island; and Shilo Inns.

Built over the Internet using Travelport XML Pro data exchange technology, the interface allows Genares to streamline transactions for its hotels using a cost-efficient and direct electronic path to the Worldspan and Galileo GDSs.

It will position the hotel group to reduce its distribution costs by only supporting a single connection to both GDS platforms. Travelport-connected travel agents will also benefit from significant improvements in response times and a more efficient purchasing experience.

“With the implementation of Travelport XML Pro Technology Solution, we are able to achieve faster response times, faster time to market of new enhancements and reduced distribution costs,” said Ursula Rhode, chief operating officer, Genares Worldwide Reservation Services. “The Travelport XML solution allows Genares to take advantage of more flexible technology and enhanced functionality.”
