Industry Veteran Pitches Travel Show To Oprah

Enlisting the help of a long-time friend based in Paris, a mystery pigeon and bike-loving pooch, travel industry veteran Lynn Clark recently entered the Oprah Winfrey Network's "Win Your Own Show" contest to pitch a new type of travel program. Her three-minute audition video, titled "Our OWN World" outlines Clark’s vision for a show concept combining destination overviews and related charity links to highlight travel that "makes a world difference."

Clark, currently director of marketing for Minneapolis-based Travel Leaders Franchise Group, enlisted the creative support of long-time friend Ginger Taggart whom Clark met 14 years ago working at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida in the travel industry sales and marketing division.

During Clark’s 16-year travel industry career, she previously worked as manager of marketing for Walt Disney Travel Company and more recently in her current post was responsible for the rebranding of the franchise division of Carlson Wagonlit Travel to Travel Leaders.

Designed to heighten attention to the positive contributions that are being made around the world, each show would provide an overview of a popular travel destination, insight into a destination-related aspect of inspirational value and tips encouraging viewers and travelers to participate in these meaningful experiences whether ‘on location’ or from the comfort of their own homes.

"I’ve always felt that travel would be a natural fit with Oprah’s programming," said Clark. "Her shows are dedicated to finding inspiration and living your best life, and I passionately believe that travel enriches the soul in just such a way."

The "Win Your OWN Show" content on the Oprah Winfrey Network launched on May 14 and online voting lasts until 11:59 p.m. PST July 3. The top five qualifying videos receiving the most votes will automatically advance to the semi-final round. Currently more than 5,000 videos have been posted. Voting is limited to U.S. residents.
