New Tourism Minister for St. Lucia

St. Lucian prime minister, Sir John Compton has named the St. Lucian hotelier, Allan Chastenet, as the new minister of tourism and civil aviation, replacing Phillip J. Pierre. This also positions Chastenet as chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization. Sir John's United Workers Party defeated the St. Lucia Labour Party of Dr. Kenny Anthony in last week's general election. During the 29th Annual Caribbean Tourism Conference (CTC-29) in the Bahamas, St. Lucia, led by the then-minister of tourism, Phillip J. Pierre, was elected chairman of CTO for the next two years. With the change in government, a new chairman of the CTO is chosen. Chastenet is owner of Coco Kreole and Coco Palm in St. Lucia.
