Michael Hare, CEO of UK-based Portman Travel, has been named Chairman of the Board of RADIUS, the global travel management company. Hare replaces Bill Tech, President and CEO of Travel and Transport, who has served as RADIUS chairman since 2001. Tech will remain as a member of the board.
As top executive with Portman Travel, Hare is the first RADIUS chairman from outside the United States. He has almost 35 years of experience in corporate travel and is the Immediate Past Chairman of the Guild of Travel Management Companies.
Portman Travel is a founding shareholder of RADIUS. Hare joined the Portman Travel board as Chief Operating Officer in 2008 and was appointed to Chief Executive Officer in 2009. He joined the board of directors at RADIUS in 2011.
"I hope to bring new insight and experience to the role and help consolidate RADIUS’ position as a world-class TMC that delivers unique value through its global network of best-in-market agencies," Hare said.
The RADIUS Network has 3,300 locations in 80 countries and manages $21 billion of annual corporate travel spending.
