Signature Travel Network recently announced the launch of its new culinary travel micro site.
"This new culinary micro site has been designed as a one-stop shop for culinary travel enthusiasts who are looking for a culinary focus to their vacation. It is accessible through Signature member's agency web sites," said Michael von Wittenau, vice president of Strategic Business Development at Signature Travel Network.
In addition to promoting a range of culinary travel product offered by Signature's preferred suppliers, the site includes Signature's exclusive affinity group departures with strategic partners, Food Network and Bon Appétit. The new site also includes featured recipes, featured destinations, culinary festivals, and interviews with popular captains of cruise lines about their favorite dining experiences both on board and in ports of call.

Culinary travel is often cited as one of the fastest growing travel segments, Signature reports. Research indicates that some 27 million American leisure travelers engaged in culinary or wine-related activities while traveling within the past three years. And 60 percent of American leisure travelers indicate that they are interested in culinary travel in the near future. These travelers are younger, more affluent and better educated than non-culinary travelers.
Signature said that its research revealed that 65 percent of American leisure travelers rated the opportunity to try different and unusual cuisines extremely or very desirable on a leisure vacation.
