Signature Travel Names Athan VP and Launches Recruiting Drive

sonia athanSonia Athan has been named vice president of national sales for Signature Travel Network. Athan will spearhead Signature's drive to
recruit retail travel companies as well as individual travel consultants to its ranks. The program includes a new recruitment website.

The new membership recruitment website - www.signaturetravelnetwork.com/join - showcases Signature’s business model and member resources, and provides an avenue for potential candidates to start a conversation with the network.

Signature reports it is interested in enlisting both agencies (targeting agency owners), as well as individual travel consultants who would be matched with the most compatible Signature member. This marks the first time that Signature will assist current members with recruiting individual travel consultants, the group says.

“We are looking for a few ‘right fit’ members to bring into our Signature family. This process is about finding outstanding members where we can provide great value to their business and travel consultants,” says Signature’s Executive Vice President Alex Sharpe.

“As a member-owned cooperative, Signature works for the members. Targeted growth at the consultant and agency levels – using the highest requirements in the industry – provides another means of strengthening our members’ equity while performing extraordinarily well for our preferred suppliers,” Sharpe said.

Athan will spearhead the recruitment program for both members and independent travel consultants in the U.S. and Canada, Signature said. Athan has spent the last twelve years as Account Director with luxury hotels and cruise lines such as Hotel Grande Bretagne in Athens and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, building relationships with U.S.-based travel retailers.

Says Athan, “Signature’s marketing, technology and training tools are invaluable resources for front line travel consultants. As part of the team, I have an opportunity to help build and support the members’ reputation with the end goal of driving sales."

Signature also welcomed four new member agencies, including:     Express Travel, Miami, FL, Bridge Holidays, Brookville, NY, TravelPlex Travel & Cruise, St. Louis, MO and Suzi Davis Travel, Bloomington, IL.

Signature Travel Network is a member-owned, travel cooperative, headquartered in Marina del Rey, California, with a regional office in New York City.

The network was established in 1956 and now includes 214 member agencies with 414 retail locations throughout USA and Canada. Collectively, Signature members generate over $5 billion in annual travel sales.
